Toddlers in Cairo: Seid Vs. Gezira club playgrounds
I decided to go ahead and start checking out the playgrounds in Gezira club in Zamalek and Seid club in Dokki.
Both are spacious, with lots of games to play with.
Seid Club:
+1 Seid club uses the training mats (used for martial arts) to avoid injury.
-1 However, there are lots of some kind of fruit fallen from the trees, making the ground almost filthy.
-1 the installations are obviously Egyptian-style, while I have no problem with going with local products, they should have put into consideration health and safety considerations, like hide screws inside the wood, using good quality wood and child friendly paint, the swings shouldn’t have the head of a wooden horse on the same level of the toddler’s head!
-1 they need to invest in more shaded areas
Gezira Club
+1 the quality of the games is noticeably higher
-1 they use sand for the ground, which is ok, but they should clean it from the ants and other insects!
+1 lots of trees, providing a nice shade and a little breeze in the middle of a hot day
+1 gated area for little babies and toddlers
-1 I know there is nothing to be done about crows in the club, and I personally don’t mind them, but some toddlers are scared when a crow steal their food especially if they were holding a sandwich or something.
+1 I don’t know if Seid club has something similar, but it’s so nice when the waiter brings you your favorite orders from all over the club. But know that if you are really thirsty or need something straight away, you’d better go get it yourself, cause the waiters take their time bringing you your order.
