I have just came from te cinema, me and some friends went to see “The Holiday” by Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. First of all I am not a big Cameron Diaz fan, but I heard that it was a great movie from many, so I was very happy that it was returned after hoget aflam el eid.
I loved it sooooooooo much. It is so real, down to earth, I connected to many of its scenes instantly, it was like a deja vu or something! If u don’t already know the story of the movie, it is about 2 girls, one living in LA, the other living in a village 40 minutes away from London, both of them are single and had troubles with men, they meet online and decide to spend the christmas holiday while switching their hourse, cars, everything,,,
One of the scenes I really liked was when Iris was having luch with her 80 years old neighbour, Arthur Abbott, he said:“Iris, in the movies, we have leading ladies and we have the best friend. You, I can tell, are a leading lady, but for some reason, you’re behaving like the best friend.”
And when Iris was trying to console Miles after breaking up with his girlfriend but finds herself breaking in tears, Iris: I understand feeling as small and as insignificant as humanly possible. And how it can actually ache in places you didn’t know you had inside you. And it doesn’t matter how many new haircuts you get, or gyms you join, or how many glasses of Chardonnay you drink with your girlfriends… you still go to bed every night going over every detail and wonder what you did wrong or how you could have misunderstood. and how in the hell for that brief moment you could think that you were that happy. And sometimes you can even convince yourself that he’ll see the light and show up at your door. And after all that, however long all that may be, you’ll go somewhere new. And you’ll meet people who make you feel worthwhile again. And little peices of your soul will finally come back. And all that fuzzy stuff, those years of your life that you wasted, that will eventually begin to fade.
Miles: Well f**k, you need this more then I do.
What I also likeis that the story goes in parallel between the two protagonists, there is no major or minor roles. The scenery was amazing. The script is very well written (chapeau). The actors were really good, even Cameron Diaz’s role suited her tremendously.
For the second time,,, it is a nice movie.
